Description
The Kookaburra is one of Australias most recognisable birds. It has a large head, long beak and a loud ‘laughing’ call.
They generally range from 41-47 cm in height, measuring from the tip of it’s beak to its tail.
Their colouring is an off-white head with a dark brown strip that goes around each of it’s eyes and along the centre of the head. Their eyes are a deep brown. The body is white with brown wings that are speckled with white.
Diet
Kookaburras eat a wide variety of food including snakes, lizards and small mammals such as frogs, rodents and bugs.
Habitat
Kookaburras live in Eucalyptus woodlands and open forests. They will build a nest in almost any tree that is big enough to contain their nest.
